The Zee Jaipur Literature festival , “the greatest literary show on earth”  is back and is set to take place in Jaipur’s historic Diggi Palace Hotel from 25-29 January 2018.

The festival, which is often described as the “Kumbh of Literature”, having hosted nearly 2000 book lovers and welcomed over a million book lovers, over the post decade, will just be hosting more than 350 writers , journalists, thinkers, politicians and popular cultural icons from more than 35 nationalities.The festival will be representing over 15 Indian and 20 international languages as well as major awards that include the Nobel Prize, the Man booker, the Pulitzer Prize, the Padma Vibhushan and the Sahitya Academy Award.

The Delhi preview of the festival was held in partnership with the Taj Group.The festival come directors Namita Ghokale and William Dalrymple, alongside  Sanjay K.Roy, Managing Director of Teamwork Arts,  which produces Zee Jaipur Literature Festival , spoke of the dyanmics as well the intangible of the festival and its international editions.
The event also fearured a panel discussion titled “Populism is the Greatest Threat to Democracy”, with fine honed perspectives from Shashi Tharoor, Rakshanda Jalil, Pawan k.Varma and Akhil Sibal.

The Zee Jaipur Literary Festival has an impressive line of Indian and International speakers covering varied and complex issues such as war and geopolitical boundaries, the environment and climate change along with broader themes including cinema, science, history.

Amongst the esteemed speakers, Bestselling international novelist Kadam Nicolson will speak on the resurgence in nature-writing heralded by current wave of green literature.Human rights activist and surgeon Ka Thida will speak on her ideals and chronicle Myanmar’s dramatic history. Filmaker Nasreen Munni Kabir will take part in a candid conversation with the music maestro Zakir Hussain, P.Sainath who is India’s best known development reporter,will give insight on darkness within India’s agrarian and rural reality.

The festival will open with its B2B arm, Jaipur Book(JMB) on 24 January.JMB, which is in its fifth edition, serves as a platform for writers literary agents, publishers and translation agencies to meet and hold discussions.

Speaking on the occasion of preview, author and festival come directors Namita Ghokale said “As the new year approaches, readers,writers and book lovers look forward to the much awaited new edition of the Zee Jaipur Literary Festival.

Writer and festival Co-Director William Dalrymple said “the audience that come to the festival always contain a large number of Delhi-literature lovers and our list of star writers is always full of Delhi literati.We hope to see more Delhi wallahs than ever at the Zee Jaipur Literature Festival 2018 and I look forward to welcoming them at the Diggi Palace in January”.
